A friend forwarded a video clip that describes a little-known danger that might affect any one of us. The clip shows an ABC news story (maybe 20/20?) about the bad effects of aging on car tires. It turns out that car tires can dry out if they sit on the shelf for too long. I did not know that. Furthermore, tires are marked with a date of manufacture. I did not know that, either. It is possible to buy a tire that has never been used, but is several years old. Ford Motor Company, along with others, has suggested that we not drive on tires older than six years.
After learning this information, I checked my own tires and was pleased to see that they were all manufactured within months prior to the purchase dates. I had not been sold "old tires."
